Spring Refresh Time with Faux Florals and Greenery

Spring has a way of making everything in your home look a little tired. The stems you loved in January suddenly feel heavy and dark. That bowl of eucalyptus that carried you through winter? It’s ready for a break.

The good news: you don’t need to start from scratch. A thoughtful seasonal swap is all it takes to make your space feel current, light, and ready for the months ahead.

Here’s how we do it.

Soft Pink Mixed Spring Blossom Bush - 21"

Start with a quick audit

Before you pull anything out of a vase, walk through your space and ask three questions:

  • Does it look heavy? Dark greens, deep burgundies, and dense textures are winter’s language. Spring speaks in lighter, airier arrangements.
  • Does the color feel dated? If your stems still feel like they belong in a hygge mood board, it’s time.
  • Does it match the light in the room right now? Natural spring light is brighter and cooler. Stems that looked rich in dim winter light can look flat or muddy once the sun changes.

If you answered yes to any of those, you’ve got your starting point.

The spring swap checklist

Think lighter, softer, and more open. Here’s what we reach for:

  • Textures: Swap dense, waxy leaves for soft, feathery, or delicate ones. Think cottonwood branches, wispy grasses, and loose-petaled blooms. Browse our spring greenery collection for light, airy options.
  • Palettes: Blush, cream, soft lavender, butter yellow, and pale coral. Our filler flowers are a great place to find soft seasonal color without overpowering the arrangement.
  • Go-to spring stems: Ranunculus, cherry blossom branches, garden roses, sweet peas, soft eucalyptus, and any fern with open fronds. Our ferns collection and all artificial flowers are a good starting point.
  • Vessels: Clear glass, white ceramic, and light natural textures like linen-wrapped pots or light wood. Put the heavy stoneware away until fall.

What to keep, what to store, what to replace

Not everything needs to go. Here’s a simple way to sort it out:

  • Keep: Neutral greenery that works year-round. Simple eucalyptus, soft ferns, and anything in a clean white or cream bridge every season. Our everyday greenery basics are built for exactly this.
  • Store: Winter-specific pieces like deep red berries, pinecone stems, and dark velvet textures. They’ll be ready to come back in October.
  • Replace: Anything that’s lost its shape, faded unevenly, or just never really worked. If you’ve been meaning to retire it, spring is the reason. Check our new arrivals to see what’s fresh.

A real-room example: the entry table refresh

Here’s what a spring swap looks like in practice. Take a typical entry table that spent winter with a low arrangement of dark eucalyptus, dried cotton stems, and a small lantern.

Artificial Italian Ruscus Spray -49”

For spring, we pulled the dark eucalyptus and brought in soft green Italian ruscus and a small bunch of faux ranunculus in cream and pale blush. Same vessel. Same lantern. New energy. The whole thing took about ten minutes, and the entry table went from “still in January” to “actually, come on in.”

That’s the thing about faux: the stems are the easiest variable to change. The hard work of finding the right vessel, the right height, the right spot is already done.
